Shaking front end, brakes, and worn strut , relationship? 850 1994

Had a front end brake job done (rotors/pads/OEM) that was overdue. While up on the hoist we noticed a leaking left strut. Will replace in near future. Before entering the garage for the brake job the car was smooth as a whistle on the highway. After the brake job, the car now shakes (steering wheel) at higher speeds on the highway. We know the strut needs replacing but before knowing, there was no felt indication. Can anyone suggest or give a reason why after a front brake job the car now shakes, as if out of wheel balance? (the wheels were returned to the same side as before) Would the known leaking strut all of a sudden create the same affect as a result of being hung on the hoist. Any comments appreciated. TIA
