.........that ASSUMES that you didn't remove the cams (upper engine cover) and/or turn either the cams or crank. They don't move by themselves as they do on some other manufacturers engines (like Subby or Mitsu for example).

For future referance, always mark every gear (sprocket) with referance to each cam and if the cams are ever removed, mark them E (exhaust) and I (intake). If the cams are ever removed, like if you want to do a headgasket, then you'ld want to use the special tools when re-assembling to do the job correctly (the way Volvo says to do that in their manuals).
