Check Engine Light Auto Reset V70-XC70

My '98 V70 is nearing the 70k mile mark and the check engine light came on this week. Checked the obvious (gas cap, O2 sensor connector) but all seemed fine. Now after three days the C.E. light has reset and no longer is lighted. I know there's a battery disconnect reset procedure, but I've never heard of a C.E. light going out on it's own (w/o ODB tool).
Any ideas?
