850 automatic transmission backup light 850 1995

My '95 850 backup light intermitly works. It's has an automatic transmission and when shifting the gear to R (reverse), sometimes the backup lights works. If the lights don't come on, with a little play on the shifter while its on R position somehow the lights works. Is there an adjustment for this?
