Heating/AC Question S40-V40 2001

This involves the heating/ac system on my 01 S40. With all selectors in "auto" mode and temp at 72F the ac red/green light cycles on and off. At the same time the blower motor also cycles on and off. This will go on for about 5 minutes and then will not occur again for several hours. Happend in hot weather with AC running and is now happening in the dead of winter. Dealer says could not find anything but changed the cabin air filter. Still does it. I checked the air filter myself and it is clean. So I don't think that was/is the problem. Any ideas out there? Thanks. Greg
