micro switch - what is it? S70

I've got a 98 S70 GLT. Needed a battery in a hurry, so I went to Sears. Left for a week on a trip, just got back, and popped the hood to inspect their work, yuck.

They didn't tighten the battery cables, and I found the broken battery hold down clamp (battery was bouncing around), and a micro switch with 2 wires one about a foot long, the other 4-5 inches long, 1 had been cut, the other looks like it had been pulled hard and stripped away from whatever it was commected too. Both the hold down clamp and the switch were found next to the battery. Well, I knew what the battery clamp was, but not the micro switch. Looked all around for any clues about the switch, didn't see any. Went to the volvo dealer, he seemed stumped too. When they looked up the battery clamp part on the computer, on the battery area illustrated parts list, there was what looked like a micro switch, but it had no item number, or any description. It almost looked like it would be placed under the battery according to how it was drawn. The parts guy asked around, but no one knew anything about it. Some there spectulated it could be a switch for the hood / alarm system.

Anyone have any idea what that switch could be for? Also, Sears is paying for everything!

Thanks
