Reverse Lights and Brake shoes 850 1995

Two quesitons: 1) what is a reasonable price for labor and parts when replacing the emergency brake shoes? 2) I have a standard (5 speed) transmission. When I put it in reverse, I rarely get the reverse lights to come on, which poses obvious problems when in busy parking lots at night. Sometimes the lights would flicker, and they would stay on only when I would put the clutch pedal in...I don't know what to think. I got this car used, and I do know that my trunk light won't come on because some ground signal is missing...perhaps the hatch was replaced?? Any ideas?

Thanks
