Maybe. The switch is integral with the lock mechanism, not in the jamb.

Get a Haynes Manual and remove the lock mechanism from the vehicle. Then spray with PB-blaster and work the switch 20-30 time. I did this for mine and it has worked perfectly for over a year.

OTOH usually the light won't come on. So this may not be your problem.
