Interior Lights S70 1998

Just wondering if my interior lights work correctly.
In all car's I've owned, when you open a door, regardless if the engine is running or not, the interior lights turn on.

In my car, if the engine is running and I open the drivers side door, the interior lights do not come on.
But, if the door is open and I shut the engine off, or if the engine is off, and then I open the door, the interior lights then come on. Is that normal?
I haven't closely checked the other doors and lights operation yet.
