replacement factory windshield at a discount? 850

O.K., with the impending blizzard here on the East coast I was out and about
this morning and my small crack across the windshield just got bigger when I
needed to run the defroster on high. It now looks like I can't just repair the crack but will have to replace the whole darn thing. I have read bits where people have spoke of $500 repair bills. If this is so, does anyone believe that I might obtain a factory windshield from someplace other that a Volvo dealer?
Can I re-install one from say a rear ended accident where the car was totaled but they could salvage the windshield?
