Auto glass is an "art form" all by itself. Mostly, the Volvo dealers seem to call on one of the national glass installers.

I looked around at one point - my windshield has been sandblasted from mostly highway driving- and the best I could find for new OEM Volvo glass was 400 and change. Generic replacement glass was less than half that.

Problem with the used glass is that it may break when it comes out and it might be sandblasted, too. But if you're a "risk taker" and check the glass carefully, sure, why not? The rest of your car is used, too!

Suggest you look up auto glass suppliers in the Yellow Pages and call around. Also call the local indy Volvo shops and Volvo dealers and ask who they use.

Decide if the price premium for Volvo glass is "worth it" to you.

I still haven't gotten around to replacing my own windshield.
