Is SC-901 radio a plug & plag swap?? 850

I just ordered an sc 901 radio for my 97 854T5 to replace the SC 815(which will be for sale in a couple weeks). I know it will fit the opening, but wanted to know if any additional wiring/plug is needed? also, do I NEED to get the ext. amp or is it powerful enough stand alone? BTW, anyone out there did this upgrade and care to share their results?!?!?! TIA
