TRANSMISSION HELP..... V70R AWD V70-XC70

Guys.. my car is acting a littl ewierd. THe tranny wants to engage (it seems) while it sits at idle like at a stop light. If I put it in Neutral it stops. And it shifts hard EARLY into 2nd from a slow start.. really annoying in stop and go traffic. I dont get any arrow lights (that what service guys asked ) so I dont thing the computer is acting up.. could it be the torque converter? If I drive WOT it shifts fine.. but part throttle its erratic. Like the load is not correct. ALSO.. I AM ONLY RUNNING FWD. I TOOK OUT THE CENTER SHAFT.. is that causing a problem? maybe the load is so different b/c there are only 2 wheels turning? I cant seem to find anyone that can help.. even old volvo techs..
