its gettin hot in here.... i wish 850 1993

no i actually hate that song... anyway, i seem to be having a heating problem in my '93 850. the problem is... it doesnt heat. well very much anyway. these days, its maybe 35 or 40 in the mornings. ill run the car till the water temp's almost to the midpoint but usually not and try to run the heat. first of all, is this the way to get heat? (the climate control can be tricky) ive got the middle knob on dash vents and floor. i have the two heating knobs all the way hot. the ac is off, the recirculate is on. and yes the air mix thing is all the way up, no outside air coming in... the air is cool at first but climbs to lukewarm max. its really no way to warm up, i mean it does heat the car but real slow. for example i will be shivering for a few minutes and later realize im not anymore because the car is room temp. i need to feeel the heeeat, is there any way to do this? am i doing anything wrong? thanks
