4+ brake fluid 850

The FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS, PART 571, reference below, does not distinguish between DOT 4 and DOT 4+, or DOT 4-#%(*$&(. The standard is for "DOT 4".

Now having said that, the performance of brake fluid is dependent on its ability to maintain a high boiling point, and to resist the influence of moisture on the boiling point. Certain formulations may do this better than others. I think Volvo brakes and ABS's are pretty sensitive to moisture, etc., and Volvo is one of few manufacturers that recommended changing the brake fluid regularly.

How much brake fluid are you actually gonna buy in your life? A gallon? I would personally pay the 2X cost for the Volvo DOT4+, know you probably got the best stuff available for the car, and be done with it. :)
