PLATINUM SPARK PLUGS & SYNTHETIC MOTOR OILS

I have been monitoring this site for several months, and I get the impression that the dealers do not recommend "platinum" spark plugs for turbos. Why?

I have a 1998 s70glt and need feedback.

Also there seems to be a group that favors "synthetic" motor oil in turbos rather than "petroleum" based. Why? If this is a water cooled turbo then the oil shouldnt see high temperatures then why use the synthetic or blended motor oils.

any and all feedback would be appreciated.thanks for a great forum.
