Oil Smell in cabin 850 1994

For several months I have been getting a strong motor oil smell through the ventilation system of my 1994 non-Turbo 850. If you stand outside the car while it is idling you can smell hot oil in the engine compartment. It builds up under the hood and comes into the cabin through the air intake on the passenger side. The smell is bad enough to give me a headache and make me nauseous.

I have suspected a vapor leak in the crankcase ventilation system. The dealer said if this fault existed I would get a Manifold pressure fault so I have yet to remove the intake manifold so that I can get to the vent and its' plumbing.

Three trips to the dealer have resulted in lots of shrugs, head scratching, etc. and some boat payments for the mechanics.

Any experience with a problem like this? If no experience, any ideas? This car is making me sick and driving me broke.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Jim
