headlight wiper motor replacement 850

I recently replaced the same motor on my car. Following Haynes it took about an hour to get it out, 20 min to button everything back up. Here's the kicker, the salvage yard sold me a driver's side motor and it turns the wrong way on the passenger side. I didn't notice the "L" stamped on the motor before installing it. The yard is 5 hours away from me, I bought the motor via ebay and now he won't return my emails.

Tell me, how did you get into the motor to rebuild it? Mine just makes a constant whining noise. Once I have it open I could probably use pieces from the working (but useless to me) motor to repair it.

Thanks,
