Alarm troubles on 1993 850 GLT (Not Keyless) 850 1993

Hi all,

First thanks for the advice on the power location for my Radar detector. It works great and the wires are concealed.

I'm still ironing out small issues with my 1993 850 GLT. This is my first Volvo, which I purchased from a "Volvo Mechanic". So I'm hoping ot continue to tap into the combined wisdom of all you Volvoholics. :-)

When I put the key in the drivers door to unlock the following happens:
1) Doors unlock.
2) Alarm Stays on... (LED flashes) This is the factory installed alarm.
3) Alarm goes off when attempting to start car. Per directions in the manual I attempt to again unlock doors to silence alarm. NO GOOD.
Eventually I am able to kill the alarm. Don't know which key opening closing works(No pattern that seems consistant.)

I've noticed that when this happens (I'm paying attention now) that the door unlocks but the alarm light stays lit. So I relock the doors. Then unlock and VIOLA no alarm.

Any experience would be helpful.
