Trailer Hitch S40-V40

Hi Redbrick
An update on my findings to date. I have researched all of the big name hitch manufacturers and have found that only three including Volvo OEM offer a hitch for the V40. The others are DaLan and Drawtite. Unfortunately both aftermarket hitches require drilling into the spare tire wheel well for fitment. Now for the really bad news. My first instinct, to go with the Volvo hitch was quickly derailed by the quote,$700!!!!!!!! I have a quote of 175Can installed on the draw-tite. I have not yet located a local supplier of the DaLan. I have also investigated the possibility of a custom built at 275Can.
Further to all the research I have also found some intresting information WRT reccomended weight limits for the 40 series cars. The 2000lb limit quoted in the owners manual is for a trailer with brakes. The tow limit without brakes is a paultry 1100lbs. So if you like myself will be above the 1100lb limit add $240Can for a brake control unit, assuming you trailer has the brakes installed. Get your wallet out!!!

Any further information any of you may have is welcome!
Cheers
Yellodog
