Oil Change Info: 5W-30 or 10W30 850 1993

I'm buying oil for an oil change, and its the first one I've done since I've owned the car, I'm going to buy Mobil 1 Full Synthetic. Does it matter whether I use 5W-30 or 10W-30, the owner's manual is never definitive, it just lists appropriate temps to use at. It's cold here in New England in the mornings usually below 15F, so I figure I should go with the 5W-30, right? And, where can you buy the aluminum crush washer that you should replace, the guy at my auto parts store had no clue.
