EH! FELLOW CANUKS V70-XC70 1989

I have a 98 v 70 with 110 kilo's on it. I am sold on synthetic but everyone seems to be bent on Mobil 1. I have only used Syntec and Formula one from Canadian Tire.I recently read in some consumer report that oil quality(cheap or expensive) is not important , change frequency is everything.
Two questions. First,opinion on Formula One(CTC) and Syntec versus Mobil 1. Second,I change twice a year,I drive 20 kilo a year. I know frequency is everything but what is your opinion for Saskatchewan?
