Re: Smell of Burning Oil 850 1996

Hello,I have a 1996 850 GLT wagon, with a 5 speed that has 165,000 miles on it. Recently, I had the rear engine seal replaced when it began to leak oil. I was alerted to the need that I had to replace the seal when I began to smell burning oil when ever I parked the car in my garage. Of course, looking under the car confirmed the leaking seal by the presence of oil on the undercarriage. But in retrospect, it was the smell of burning oil that alerted me to the problem.

While the seal was being replaced, I also had the clutch replaced too. Recently, I've noticed the burning smell of oil again when ever I park the car in the garage after driving it. I've checked underneath the car, and there are no signs of leaking oil. Oil comsumption is the same as usual. Any suggestions as to what is causing the smell of burning oil? Thanks.

Hugh
