What to do about a new XC? V70-XC70 2000

I currently own a 2000 xc with 100,000 mls (mostly highway) that at 76,000 miles began to let me down a bit. The Ets system needed to be replaced and a few thousand miles after that, my transmission required two flushes. Currently, the transmission is hanging in there, but occasionally it does feel funny. Most recently, the ABS rear whell sensor is shot and the mechanics are unsure about the control unit. Also, I had to eplace my tie-rod(?) and a few other small (but expensive) items have required replacement. Since the summer, I have spent nearly $4000 grand on the car (including routine maintenance and new tires--). I began driving life with a 93 850 GLT and never had ANY issues...but miles weren't as high.
My questions:
Is a new 2003 XC in order here(I am a volvo girl to the end and I love the XC)? Does anyone know how the newer XCs do with high miles? I think it's the same transmission as mine, but has Volvo ironed out some of the problems.
I absolutely love my car, but I also Must have a reliable/ safe car that can do another 100,000 miles over the next three years. I excpected my car to be able to go 200,000 miles with no major problems... and I have been let down and I am losing faith in my ride. I am worried about my transmission, and at the rate I seem to be going, I should pitch a tent a bring my life savings to the mechanic.
Any thoughts?
Alisha
