EH! FELLOW CANUKS S70 1998

For my second Volvo I have a brand new V70 not turbo and asked when picking it up if I should put the synthetic oil I intend to use in right away or what? They, the salesmen and service manager said wait till the first oil change - after the break in period @7,500miles. Why shouldnt I do it from the start with synthetic? I thought there were problems with changeovers, so it seemed best to start out with synthetic. Does anyone know for sure?
