Keep her or sell her? Opinions needed! 850 1996

Your tire wear is abnormal and if a result of the crash and repair I'd have an alignment shop check front and rear. If found to be out-of-spec and not correctable I'd contact my insurance company.

The 850's platform is tough and from what you describe I think the SIPS has done it's job. Regarding brakes, I understand that it's acceptable to replace rotors every other pad change. Better than on my "new" 740 on which rotors are to be changed with pads each time.

Looking throug my 855t's history I see that front pads were good for 25-30,000 miles and rotors were indeed changed every other time. The rears lasted almost double the front. At 92,000 I'm at 10mm on the front pads, and 5mm on the rears, second set of rotors on the car.

As far as buy/sell advice, I think after that accident it might be difficult to get regular market price out of it from someone who does any checking into it's history or has a good shop inspect it.

If you can resolve the tire wear problem I'd say keep it and pay as you go unless you don't mind selling for less.

Regarding 850's, I am very dissapointed in their rate of depreciation. I bought my '95 855t January 2002 for $11,500. In line with Kelly Blue Book's price. It was in perfect shape with all records. None of the usual problems for me but it did have a tranny replaced under warranty at 56,000. Now I'm trying to sell and with Kelly Blue book lists for about $9,700. The market is not supporting that price.

I've listed in the paper for $10,500 and the only calls I get are from brokers wanting to sell it for me. I hate to admit it's high but I see 850t's similar in description listed between $7k and $9k. I bought an '88 745t for under $2k and need to move the 855t so I'll end up losing several thousand dollars.
