Roof rails 850

There were messages concerning peeling roof rails recently, and removing these rails was mentioned. My question is - how do you do this? I see there are plastic clips at the back end, which look as if they should come off, however it also looks as if any pressure on these would break them! (Any experts reading this, please consider that these are the words of a complete mechanicle clutz!)
Any simply worded advice would be much appreciated.
