Steering not centring well after replacing rack/fluid 850 1996

Hi all

Recently I acquired a 96 850 GLE 20v. It have a few leaks which has been rectified since. One of them was the steering rack leaks.

After replacing them with a new OEM set(TRW, I think) the steering was heavy. According to the mechanic, it is normal because of the air still trap inside the rack. Give it a few more days and it should be OK. Well I have used it for about 6 days now, it has improve but definitely still heavier than before.

Also (sometime) especially on lower speed, it will not center after turning right. Infact it will continue to turn right by itself. Quite evident in parking lot. However on turning left, it is normal ie it will self center when I release the wheel.

On cruising speed ie 30-40km/h above, its OK.

What happen here? The mechanic say that if it does not improve, he will put in some addictives. Is this right? How come new car don't have this problem? Is it because of poor air bleeding?
