Disintegrating plastic spark plug wire conduit! V70-XC70 2001

Hi All,

Has anyone had a good look under their spark plug wire cover at the split plastic conduit that protects spark plug wires from abrasion? While changing the spark plugs at 30k miles on my 2yrs old 2001 V70XC, it was all I could do to keep the conduit sheaths from crumbling to pieces while I popped the coil assemblies off.

I'm sure it's a pretty severe environment under the cover, but at 2 years, I would have expected whatever material Volvo chose to hold up a little better than that. This coming after some bad press with their disintegrating wiring harnesses in the 240.

The car is still under warranty - is this a warranty item, or do some wires actually have to short out and cause some drivability problems? I have some spools of various sizes of that split conduit, but I'd rather it not have to be my problem at this point...

Greg
