850 stereo has punch, S70 doesn't....why? S70

Where does the optional amplifier go? What channels does it boost?

Are the 8" speakers just the two rear speakers? Are they in boxes like on my 850 and if so would that installation require modifying the rear package tray (hat shelf)?
