Cheers for the info. It would be called a floating ground in the communcations/electronics world.

Sadly I don't think thats what's up with mine, or at least I hope not. The head unit is a brand new top of the range Kenwood MP3 one!

I need to do some more investigating, I suspect either the earth at the head unit or the amp isn't much cop. The amp isn't anything special (Boshman or something) but didn't do it with my last Alpine tape head unit.

Cars good, not quite the track weapon I really want. But makes me smile on normal roads with better suspension and brakes now. I'll have a look at maybe doing some head porting at easter if I have the time to take it off and have a play.
