early eighties transmission problems

Im in the market to adopt out my '82 DL sedan and replace it with a similar station wagon with less miles (mine has 210,000), mainly i need more space as im moving to Vermont and i'd like to bring somethings with me, as well as have a stronger car for the trip/winters.

the tranny on my current '82 DL is kind of weak and i've heard there are bad years for volvo transmissions. all info ive found just lists the same types, so can anyone let me in on what year for dl station wagons is the best? id like an early eighties because i cant live with out the classic body type. please let me know also what areas to look at when test driving?

THANK YOU SO MUCH. Your forum has already been so helpful!!!!!
