Oil pan smack down... OUCH! 850 1997

Well I thought I was kind to my car but I seem to have been a bit neglectful of hazards in the road. Between a couple of dirt roads and the general road conditions here in the D.C. area I seem to have nearly punctured my oil pan. (See pic below) Some road hazard left a thumb sized ½ inch deep dent. At least it’s not a hole. I don’t even know when it happened except for I must have happened within the last three weeks. All I know is Odin saved my car from a serious catastrophe. After searching the archives I am certain that a skid plate is in order for may car. The Volvo one seems like a good bet all around. What I am wondering is how compromised is the oil pan. I really don’t want to install another one due to $$$. At this time I see no cracks or fissures in or around the dent. Should I let it go or replace the oil pan?
