Removing driveaxle on 95 854 850 1995

First time poster here. For those of you who regularly provide information on this site -- thanks.

I'm trying to remove the left side drive axle on my 1995 850 GLT automatic (127000 miles) in order to change the CV joint boots. While following the Haynes procedure, I hit a snag at the clamp bolt holding the suspension control arm to the steering knuckle. The nut came off after a little bit of effort, but the bolt would not come out, and ended up snapping my extension bar. Does this bolt screw in and out, or do I simply bang it out once the bolt is off? To see the clamp I'm referring to (with the bolt already removed), look at figure 10-10 in section 8 of Haynes.

Thanks.
