Help, my baby won't start 850

Wow, my 850 has been giving me a lot of problems recently. But now this problem is a major one. When I pulled out today, I noticed my check engine light came on and my temperature gauge immediately shot up to half way and my cooling fan started going off. After a minute or 2 the gauge returned to normal warming up temperature, so maybe it was just a fluke.
Then after some more driving later that day the gauge dropped down to the lowest position and I started to notice the car was running roughly and hesitating when starting off. Now I have come home and now the car does not want to start anymore. And something else, after giving up of trying to start the car, I pulled the key out and the cooling fan started going off for about 5 minutes. I am totally mistified.
