CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON 98 V70 AWD R V70-XC70 1998

On my '98 V70AWD disconnecting the battery DOES reset the CEL. It did NOT come back on a week later as you state (airpump fault). It WILL come back on if the problem recurs and keeps sending the trouble code. Fix the trouble, it stays out, but keeps the code stored in memory until someone formally clears it wth the Volvo tool.
