Oil Change Questions and More...... S60 2001

I was attempting to change the oil on my daughter's '01 S60 T5 the other day when I was stunned to learn that there is a huge engine bottom cover pan that looks like it will need to be removed first in order to get to the oil drain plug and the oil filter. I was short for time to do the oil change as quick as possible so I did not continue on. But my question is, if such is the case with every oil change on the S60, one will have to remove first this bottom pan in order to do an oil change. My second question is how do you reset the service lighton this S60 if it still needs to be reset. Thanks for any help that I can use.....
