Respect your techs and they will respect your cars and you

Amen, Master Tech.

I'll tell you what, the best thing they could do would be to eliminate the "service writer" all together, or insist that they have been mechanics in the past. I've experienced everything from the condescending to the clueless from the white shirt crowd behind the desk. Recently I sought some advice from the dealer service dept about a smell coming from my heat, thought I might have a heater core going bad, and the wonder boy behind the desk suggested a radiator flush for $100. I then went to the greasiest radiator shop I could find and got a straight answer (that I should wait awhile and keep an eye on it based on the symptoms I described) from a guy who had actually seen a heater core. The guy stopped to talk with me even though he was clearly busy with another job. Between that and the $17 headlight wipers I plan to find a decent indy and online sources for parts.
Matt
