A stock 5.0 or 4.6 V8 'stang is NOT that fast. My trusty ol' modified 745T beats them (yes, been there/done that) and many other cars thought to be fast too.
Now, a modified 'stang on the other hand will beat most other cars but the term "modified" for a 'stang can mean well over 400HP too. I also have a very "modified" 'stang as well.
