Time to charge A/C. Any suggestions??? 850 1997

I have a 1997 850R with 88K. My A/C is not cooling properly. The compresor is switching off and on every few seconds. I believe it is low on freon, probably caused by the notorious EVAPORATOR leak. The car has always been dealer serviced, by previous owner.

What is the best procedure to perform without removing the evaporator? I could justify a charge every couple of months. I only need A/C about 4 months, a year.

Thanks!!!!!
