Which pads with cross-drilled rotors S70 1998

Sorry for "beating a dead horse" subject, but I "stumbled upon" (Thanks, Ebay!) a set of cross-drilled front rotors (Zimmerman) for my S70 T5 Auto, and not having EVER had cross-drilled rotors before, I have heard/ read that pad selection is VERY important with regard to rotor life, as well as overall braking performance.

Therefore, I am looking for a good set of brake pads that will "match" well with these rotors, as well as not wear them down too quickly. However I realize that cross-drilled rotors do not last as long (in general) as solid ones.

Any ideas / suggestions would be appreciated--especially from those with first-hand experience. I have read that metallic pads (PBR "Metal Masters") are preferrable--is that true, and why?

TIA,

HB
