Your Volvo dealer needs to program the new remote via his Vadis computer. New remotes are packaged in a plastic bag with a label on the outside with the electronic serial number information for the remote. Without this ESN, the remote cannot be programmed and is absolutely worthless. So the poor souls who buy used remotes on E-bay, can only use them as landfill.
