Are you trying to replace a broken wire or add larger, aftermarket speaker wires? It's no easy task replacing or repairing a wire there and the connector must be taken apart, not exactly easy to put it back together either.
If you're adding speaker wires, it's far easier to just run it on the inside even though you can see it. It'll last a long time w/o breaking.
