problems with adjusting wastegate setting? S70 1998

Hi-

Has anybody ever had any significant problems after adjusting their wastegate setting on an S70 (or 850) T5?

I have read about doing this process here on the brickboard for several years.

The pictures at volvo tuning are good:
http://www.vptuning.com/wastegate.pdf

Now IPD has some info on their web page:
http://www.ipdusa.com/pdf/wastegate_adjustment_94_02_turbo.pdf

IPDs web page suggests "you can safely raise this to 6-8psi. This will give almost instant boost production in response to throttle input". They then go on to say "do not exceed 8psi, it won't hurt anything, but performance will be reduced and you will get a check engine lamp..."

So I called IPD to ask some specific questions, and the guy I talked was very negative about doing this. "Doom and gloom, unpredictable wastegate response, not a precision part to begin with, all cars responding differently, no set psi is good for every car, potentially blowing up your engine" kind of talk.

So, has anyone with a T5 set their wastegate to 6-8 psi and had negative longterm results?

Thanks
Joe
