rattle type sound from rear wheels? 850

Has anyone ever experienced a "rattle" type sound like a baby rattle whenever the car goes over the slightest depression in the road? I had my Indy repair shop check it out last time I was in but he could not tell what caused this sound. He told me however that it was not something that would be safety critical. I just do not want to go to the dealer and have them analyze it and tell me it will cost $xxx.xx and then fix it myself.
It seems to be coming from the right rear wheel area but I am sure this could affect either side eventually.
