problem with idle speed 400 1992

Your problem can be a lot of stuff..

It may be a sticky or faulty idle control valve. It has a hose connection to the manifold behind the throttle body and one in front.

It's simply a valve that can be opened to a certain degree by the ECU to bypass air around the throttle body and control the idle speed. It can get gummed up and move with difficulty, or the electric motor driving the valve burns a coil.

It may also be a bad throttle switch. Do you hear a faint 'click' if you open the throttle by hand (engine not running) and then close it again? Is the throttle cable binding/sticking?

Have you read out any error codes using the LED box in the engine compartiment to see if the ECU has anything logged?

Bye, Arno.
