don't be paranoid buddy, remember this is a site about problems in our beloved volvos and how to fix them.
I don't know much about the s80, but get yourself a good written manual, keep visiting here and keep asking questions.
Most volvo owners on this site rec a full transmission fluid flush. Easy to do with some manual help.
