Insurance/Import/Export question 850

Sorry to post this here, but I hope someone has an answer. I want to purchase a Volvo in Florida and import it to Canada. (Fly there, drive back). The problem is; how would I go about insuring the vehicle for the drive through 6 states? My Canadian insurer does not insure a vehicle that has not been inspected here (Catch 22). Do you need a Fla. Licence and residence to obtain insurance from an Fla company? The car is Fla road worthy. There must be a way. Why can one rent a car and insure it but not buy one and insure it???

Thanks.
