Oil drain plug V70-XC70 2002

A co-worker has a 2002 V70 normally aspirated which he took delivery of at the Volvo factory in Sweden.
He has been less than pleased with the car so far. He has been plagued with a "check engine light" problem. From what I have read in this forum, this can be caused by a loose gas cap as well as other fuel related issues.
On another subject, he has been unable to identify the oil drain plug for this car. Where is it located exactly ?
Does the car have to be taken to the dealer for re-set of the check engine light? Will it re-set itself if it was lit by a loose gas cap?
