abs/tracs light 850 1996

i have a '96 turbo. the abs/tracs light has been coming on every so often and thus have been researching the issue. i've read almost all posts and recommended links related to issue. i just brought the car in for a dealer service check and asked them to look into the issue. they pulled a code 4-4-3 and said it was the "death code" for the module. they recommended a replacement for the ridiculous price already noted. my questions-
1) i found other posts referenceing this code "4-4-3" and there was no mention of the abs/tracs unit...is this an accurate code to anyone's knowledge?
2) should i recommend they look into the weak crimping of the sensor wiring under the fuse box or assume they are aware of this issue related to '96s?
2) i looked on car-parts.com for a unit but could not locate one...am i looking in the wrong place? does the unit have another name? do i need glasses?

i would appreciate any advice or suggestions. the car's at the dealer now and i'm not quite sure what to do.

thanks
tom
